I wrote this for my dear boy last Saturday...

For Moozer ~~~3 months without you... angel

How well i remember that day in September of 1994 when our oil delivery man showed you to me.
How could i say no? You had just been captured after being dropped off at a park. You werent even
neutered. No doubt your former family had no idea why you sprayed all over the place so they dumped you.
They dont deserve to know what an incredible cat they missed having in their lives.
You might have been 2 or maybe even 3 or 4, its hard to say because you were already a full grown handsome
Tomcat. We had you neutered as soon as we could but not before you went to sow your wild oats one more time.
i was so scare that day you escaped...you were gone for 5 long days. i looked for you every day but not until the
5th day did you drag yourself home. To this day, on that street where the feral cats live, i still see cats that look like you.
im sure they are related to you after all these years.
You were always there for me when i came home from a long day of house painting or tile setting.
You knew it was hard work but i didnt mind because you and your brothers needed to eat. There were nights
when you 3 ate and Daddy and i didnt. i didnt mind. It was for you.
Seventeen years somehow went by and you were my constant rock. You came to me when i cried and slept on
my feet as we watched TV. You never minded letting me watch what i wanted to watch!
In the winter you slept under the covers with me...we were almost connected..joined at the hip.
Then old age set in for you but i must not have been able to notice because you were always my handsome mancat.
i didnt notice when you no longer slept with me. i now realize it was because you couldnt be that far away from your
water bowl during the night...or was it to somehow prepare me for the inevitable...the day you would be gone.
About 4 days before i knew your time was near, you stopped purring. This broke my heart as your purr was always so
loud and content sounding.
Did i wait to long? Were you in terrible pain?
i will never know but i know that you are no longer in pain and for that i am grateful.
My heart is still broken and i suspect it will always be but in my heart i know it was your time to go on to your
tenth life.
i dont know when, but i do know that when the day comes that its my turn to cross that Bridge, you will be leading the
pack and we will be reunited.
i live for that day.
Happy Easter in Heaven, Moozer, my forever cat. Love is forever.
Love,
Mom

Red Dot Bug!
Posted April 6, 2011 by Molly
I've heard stories from the older cats that there's a red dot bug that they've been trying to catch for YEARS! I didn't see it until today. OMCeek

Allie says it's a trick, but I chased it and chased it. Harry helped me. We didn't catch it, but we scared it off for now.

I think it came out because spring is here. It's warm and sunny, and Mama said I don't have to move to a new house like we did last spring! I don't want to ever do that again!

Tomatoes

OK, my mommy Phoebe explained this to me. Big storms are called tomatoes, so that means you can attack them with salad forks!

She's very smart and figured this out when daddy Gimme said he was attacked by tomatoes one day when he lived in Florida.

She made sure he had a good supply of forks and then got some for herself. When I grew up she taught me how to fork-fight too!

Well last night a BIG tomato flew over our house. I was in the bathroom with Mama and Daddy protecting the whole furmily, and Phoebe was in her room guarding the back of the house. She would have let the rest of us in there if it had lasted very long, but it didn't.

We scared it off!! It went to the airport to try to leave town and from what I hear it made a real mess there. But our house was safe. So now we need to polish our war forks and keep them ready. There are more storms coming! glare

Thought I would start a blog on Cat litter where we can write reviews on all the cat litter that you have tried. Wish I could do some sort of statistics graph here on each product, but this will have to do.
So I will start with my experiences. We can also discuss the problems with clay vs. natural litters.
Some Clay does seem to work well, though the drawbacks are silica which can really cause problems for you and your cat's lungs. Though it seems to be a cheaper option. Wheat, or corn based is lighter, and better for lungs. Though there are concerns of aflatoxins that are in grain based products when mosisture is added. I have been trying to research this in depth about aflatoxins in grain based litter when moisture and heat are added. Then there is paper litter, silica beads litter, oh and some of us even have our cats use their own human toilet. I wonder if they flush too? mol!!
Here are my experiences thus far. (Yes I have tried all of these)

-Costco Clay litter was only 7.99$ for 40lbs
good odor control. Very dusty.

- Crystal Cat litter expensive, pretty good for odor control, but the beads would fly everywhere, finding them all over the house. Would not want my cats to ingest this if they licked themselves.

- Natures Miracle 10lbs not on sale is 14.99$ Wheat based, strong pine smell. Pee particles would not clump well. Though there is no dust at all. Is good if mixed with another natural brand.

-Swheat Scoop Mid range price natural wheat litter.
smell is a bit odd when it gets wet, it is not very dusty. If it sits too long it will stick to the bottom of pan like cement.

- Worlds Best natural corn based litter, quite expensive we paid 9.99$-13.99 for a 9lb bag its very minimal on dust, light weight, and good for odors. Can get tracked around. Cling on cats long fur. Clumps well.

-Petsmart brand Clay (Esquisi cat) affordable 11.99$ for 40lbs, very good on odor and good clumping.

-Arm and Hammer Double Duty Clay 9.99$ for 20lbs, so a little expensive. Great odor control, and good clumping, tracks around. Quite dusty.

-Arm and Hammer Essentials Corn, and Baking soda litter. 10.5 Lbs 14.99$ Has quite a strong perfumey smell to it, you can even smell it without opening the bag. It clumps ok, covers the smell, but then you get another sort of sweet awful smell. Dustless.

-Pestells Easy Clean Corn based litter (cheap) Bought at Zellars. $6.99 for 7lbs I just bought this one so I will let you know. Good price, lightweight, and dustless so far. No smell with this litter so far.

Also please feel free to add your experiences with cat litter Boxes. We just found some online (Walmart) but it is a USA site so not sure if we can order. They are nice wooden boxes to hide the actual litter box.
I sure like those potted fake tree ones that have the litter box hidden in them too.
